Since its humble inception in 1936, the museum's collection has grown from a single display case located in the old library room within in the old city hall to its location at the Rock Island Depot, which boats of pioneer and American Indian history. The museum houses history that hearkens back to the agency era, the development of the city of Anadarko, and the various indigenous cultures.

Native American Culture
This collection is the main attraction of the museum. The Philomathic Club is very proud of the artifacts and art they have collected throughout the years. The collection consists of items such as: Arrowheads, Artwork from the Kiowa Five, taxidermy, Native American regalia, and amazing beadwork. There are numerous tribes represented in the museum as items have been donated from generous donors from all over the country. Overall, the Native American Collection is the jewel of the museum.
